Lockett Wood

Lockett was born August 1, 1939 in Albuquerque, NM. Active in sports as a youth, including playing football and running track in high school, he obtained degrees in physics and electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico. He also did graduate work at Brown University and the University of Colorado, where he obtained a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. Highlights of his career at Avivid Technologies Group include positions as CEO, marketing VP, senior scientific manager and chief scientist. He founded several startup technology companies. One of his companies (Colorado MEDTech) sold $75 million in medical products and services – and employed over 500 engineers and technical support people. Dr. Wood holds fifteen patents and has published thirty scientific papers. One under-appreciated benefit of growing older as a triathlete/duathlete comes every five years – moving into a new age group. This is one of the few things all triathletes eagerly anticipate about growing older – and might in itself be reason enough to take up multi-sports!

Lockett continues working full-time and enjoying every day this side of the grass. He said, I feel better today on the cusp of 80 than I did at 37.
