Winston Allen

Winston was born April 19, 1930 and brought up in Columbus, OH. A swimmer and diver, he attended Ohio State University where he considered himself “a small fish in a big pond. He later transferred to DePaul University in Chicago,  where he was big fish in a little pond. At DePaul, he won a national diving title, so would have been a big fish at either school, after all. Winston also graduated from the Defense Language Institute at The Presidio in Monterey, CA, which led to assignments abroad as a Japanese linguist. He enjoyed a 22-year career in the U.S. Army as an officer in the Military Police Corps, a diving coach at the U.S. Air Force Academy and consulting work with the IRS. His strategy for triathlon competitions is, “if you can’t beat ’em, outlive ’em!” He remarked, I have enjoyed many successes, none possible without the help of others.
